Just Because: Movie Trivia with the Fam

I got really excited this morning when my uncle texted me asking if I wanted in on another movie trivia. If you know me, and my family for the matter, we are big movie buffs and can answer seriously any questions containing information about the movie. Whether that be the plot, characters, or even quotes, we can do it.

However, here is my issue. Technology is so advanced these days that you can just go on IMDB and search anything you need for that movie.

Today we did movie couples from movies he listed. He would say the couples names in the movie and we had to respond back with who the actors were that played them and pretty much whoever answered first won that round.

Another issue I have is that since I'm playing with grown adults, a lot of the movies that are given are not from my generation or this decade. All I did was merely suggest that we have movies from this decade so its fair for everyone. This was his response:

"There was a complaint by one of the younger players that there weren't recent enough movies asked about. So I rectified."

Thanks, uncle. Thanks for throwing me under the bus for that one. I'd rather go back to playing with movie quotes instead. I'll rock your socks off with my knowledge.

Do you all play fun games with your family?

SNOW DAY!!

My spring break cooler engulfed in the snow
Let me just start off that snow days don't come as frequently in college as they did in high school or middle school. In college, they will wait till the very last minute to cancel classes. In this case, they didn't cancel school until 1:30 AM! They should've taken the hint to cancel school when they sent out the email to not bother driving back in the frozen tundra because I-57 was too dangerous.

Snowffical, Snow-pacalypse, Snowmageddon. All of the popular names of claiming this glorious holiday that I have now had the pleasure of experiencing TWICE in my time at Illinois. And what do college kids do when we get the day off from school? We drink, in copious amounts. And it couldn't have come at a much sweeter time than to come back from out "spring break." I put quotes around that because I find it ironic that we have a snow day the day after we get back from being in warm weather locations.

However, I spent my day with some much needed relaxation, sleep and watching Criminal Minds and Pretty Little Liars. I know, I live a sad life. But when I have exams that I really should have studied for and was working till 1 AM the night before, I would much rather sleep. I'm a grandma and I don't really care. I prefer the term responsible, but what do I know?

Where I've Been...

"Everything you experience in life plays a role. Even the little things. Sometimes you won't realize it. Sometimes you gotta just stop and think about what just happened and how you feel about it. You'll learn a lot about life and a lot about yourself."

One of my friends is extremely philosophical, but I love talking to him because he gives me a reality check on life and what is important.
You have to be thankful for the things you have encountered in your life and constantly be reminded of what you have.
You need to look back on what you've accomplished, how it has made you grow as a person, and has changed you for the better.
Whether that be going off to college, experiencing a break-up, a move, a tragic loss, or even success. Everything has an impact on who you've been and who you are going to become.
Sometimes, it just takes a little reminding of that.

It's a Spring Break-Up

As I'm listening to Luke Bryan's two new song's on repeat (Buzzkill and Just a Sip), I have been having constant nostalgia about my last year's spring break trip to Panama City Beach, Florida. Although I am happy that I'm going to see my sister in California, but even last night at the library one of my guy friends asked me if I'm planning on being on the beach and getting drunk. Wahhh. It got to the point where yesterday I was day dreaming in Italian about our dreaded 4th day and soon was reliving all of the horrible yet wonderful memories I will never get back or most likely don't fully remember.

Being able to go on the typical spring break trip during college was the best thing I could have asked for. Even though I can't do it again this year, I don't think I would want to go to the same location. I have too high of expectations and would constantly be comparing to. I would be a little smarter, yes. Well try to anyways.

It's my senior year next year, and you better believe I will be going on spring break again. Not really sure where. But I will be somewhere on a beach with the ones that matter to me most. Until then, California I'm coming for you on Sunday.

Is it Friday yet?

The purpose of the week before spring break is absolutely pointless in my mind. Not only because it's probably the longest week you'll experience in the spring semester besides finals week, but also your professors try to be funny and cute and schedule EVERYTHING to be due this week or for exams. Like, why? I don't get it.

All I want is for to
+ get a decent amount of sleep
    + eat
    + go tanning
    + be on the beach
    + read my books(s)
    + watch Criminal Minds

Not necessarily in that order but I just want to be in California with my sisters next week and have a much needed week of relaxation. While I probably should be paying attention in Interpersonal Communication class and we're talking about disclosing information about ourselves.

I don't know why Mondays suck so badly, but they just do. And I'm pretty sure that this girl next to me has been blatantly staring at my computer screen the entire lecture.

Five for Friday: ME

What's the number one topic that we are all comfortable talking about? Ourselves! So not in a self-centered way, I'm just going to talk about 5 things about me that are really the ins and outs of who I am.

1. I am the oldest of 3! I have two younger sisters; Lindsey who is 19 and already married (I know, right?) and Amanda (Ew, that felt wierd) aka Peeb who is 15. Basically we're the three best friends that anyone could have! But really.
We're a bunch of goofballs

But we clean up pretty nicely

2. I LOVE CHIPOTLE. I wish you all understood my obsession. Like it's probably a little unhealthy. Chipotle, unhealthy? Whaattt? I get it probably once a week and that is not even an exaggeration. #sorrynotsorry

3. COFFEE. Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts are my ish. Although this is probably actually unhealthy how much coffee I do drink. Like actually starting to get me caffeine headaches from not having it. But, whateverly beverly I'm working on it.

4. I have two dogs! Ben and Sidney and I could not imagine not having them in my life. They are probably hands down what I look forward to the most, besides my sisters, whenever I go home. I just love to snuggle up to them! They're really good snugglers.
Snuggle buddies for life
Sidmonster and Benny-Bop
5. I am studying communications! Even though I love math, college and having to take all tree levels of calculus made me despise it with a passion. I do still plan to become a teacher but I'm going to be an overachiever and be a professor! My dad's dream for me is to work for the Chicago Cubs in the PR department so we'll see who wins that battle.

Happy Friday!

EDIT: I don't know how to make the beginning of my blog not be in a text box, so I'm just going to let that be. Deal with it :)

When you follow your HEART you will find that there is only ONE WAY

One of the best decisions after choosing to go to the University of Illinois has always been joining Sigma Kappa. It is shaped my life in so many ways that I can't even begin to explain. It was what I was looking for in college, a second family. The ladies I have met and have come to call my sorority sisters are now the most important people in my life and could not imagine being without them. They have always been there for me, encouraging me to do better, and have been an inspiration to me as well.

What does it mean to be an active member in your sorority? To me, it's more than just participating in the required events, workshops or retreats. It's more than making the required amount of points each month. It's the things you do that don't show up on paper. Being an active member is not only a benefit to your chapter, but to you as well. It's making the friendships that last a lifetime. It's having weekly coffee dates with one of your sisters. It's living with one of your sisters outside of living in your sorority house. Being an active member is doing something not because you have to but because you want to.

Last school year I became really sick that I ended up missing school for two weeks. I have never felt so much love and support from my sorority than I did during that time. It was during recruitment time that I missed so you could only image my disappointment from not being able to participate. I got daily texts and Facebook posts from my friends saying how much I was missed and updating me on everything that was going on in recruitment. It was at that moment that I came to realize that I was more than just a name or a face in the chapter, I was an important member of a sorority that has changed my life. And I couldn't ask for anything more.

"And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them and of their children after them" -Jeremiah 32:39

Going to try a themed day on here. Don't really know if this is a thing in the blogging world but I'm going to make it one. Having all of the events of the week compiled through pictures for your enjoyment.

And a happy birthday to my best friend, Jeni!

Have a great, blessed day everyone!

Why blog? Why now?

So why start a blog? Honestly I've been reading so many that I've found and from my friends that are studying abroad that it sounded like a good idea. And my friends get made at me that I tweet so much anyways I figured this would be a good outlet.

If you think about it we've all blogged before. Back in the day, which was a Wednesday (Dane Cook. If you don't know who that is we can't be friends), our social media was Xanga! Oh yes, you all remember it. Do people even use it anymore? I would spend hours and hours on that site trying to find the perfect layout, adding pictures, customizing it to make it my own, and finding songs. I always thought it was so cool that a song could play right when your page opened. That was Xanga, right? Or maybe Myspace... I'm not sure. All of the old social media sites blend together I get them mixed up.

Anyways, this is me. Blogging my life away. Updating you all on my crazy college tales and random thoughts that 140 characters just can't suffice. It won't be about how my day went. But there will be a purpose or main point to blogging about what I do. It won't be a "what I did today" type of thing, the thought actually bores me.

Hope you all enjoy!
