All of the Sundresses!

So... It's April. The end of April for that matter. And it's cold, rainy, and I may or may not have seen some snow flurries today on my walk back from class this morning.

Another reason why I hate the North and I am moving to the South. Because that's happening.

I just want to be in a magical place where I have to worry about packing away all of my winter clothes for the spring/summer because I simply won't need them. Who needs to be wearing a fall jacket and a hoodie in April?! Not I, I say.

All I want to do is wear sundresses all day, every day. My closet is severely lacking in that department and since I am kinda rolling in the dough, I need to buy all of the sundresses!

le sigh. A girl can dream can't she?
Basically everything from A'Gaci would be fantastic :)

Amanda, in the middle, is in my favorite dress.
It's definitely overstayed it's welcome.
Who is with me on loving sundress weather?!

Wait, I'm legal now?

So this weekend was a very huge event for me. Not only was it my sororities formal that I rightfully earned to go to!! Holla at my good grades :) But...

I AM OFFICIALLY 21 YEARS OF AGE!!

And let me tell you, I feel old. Like actually.

When I get asked how my birthday was I say to everyone the same response
"I was hungover until 5pm and I told a bartender that he couldn't see my ID when he asked for it"

I still giggle at myself about that one. Because honestly, who says that? I say the darndest things sometimes. But I will just share pictures from my epic weekend of drunken debauchery instead of saying it. Not because I don't remember, because I do. But pictures are better.

Rockin' the high-low with the roomie/date :)

Wall sits are normal right?

Love my children :) (missing one of them)

Room 20! Minus Allison, wah.

See how excited I am to get my wristband?!

Finally legal!

Mai Thai for my first legal purchase at lunch.

The boys in the kitchen at work are the best

Mom's Weekend!

It was Mom's Weekend this weekend! I was so excited to be able to spend it with my mom and Memo. It always feels so special whenever they come down and see me every year.

Of course, I took my mother out to the bars. Did I purposely plan a bar that has no dance floor? You bet I did! Sorry Mom, I love you. But I would much rather see you chatting up my friends mothers than the boys.

We also had the Atius-Sachem show this weekend too! Or those of you may know it as Greek Sing at your respected schools. We teamed up with Alpha Gamma Rho and it was a lot of fun. As you can tell by our costumes our theme was Grease. We thought for sure we would win best costume just because of how adorable and uniform we all looked.

But, no. WE WON SECOND PLACE!! It was as much of a shock as it was to us considering we were placed in the first half of the show. And nobody ever places who is in the first half. It's still very exciting :)

Sunday I got my formal dress. No, to answer your question I can't find a picture of it online. But it is high-low, black, sequins and will give someone who will be there a nice kick in the pants for missing out on a piece of this ;) I'm going in blind though so it shall be interesting. But I am not worried. Because we're celebrating my birthday at midnight!!! I'll be 21! Woah...

For your viewing pleasure. My 15th birthday party. I even giggle at myself haha.

Countdown T-minus 4 days!!

Some Shameless Promoting...

Excuse my shameless promoting for like 2.5 seconds. Or however long it takes you to read this. In which case, if you do read in 2.5 seconds that you must be Dr. Spencer Reid :)

My last name isn't all that common. Well, at least I like to think it isn't. But season 2 of the Voice, there was a country kid on Team Blake named Jordan Rager. That's right. My cousin made it out of 50,000 (I'm just guessing) contestants to make it onto the live auditions and got chosen to be on Blake's team. How cool, right?!

Sorry for the poor quality

This was over a year ago and he has not stopped trying to achieve his dream of becoming successful in the music industry. And that is hard work! He has put out multiple albums for his fans and is starting to climb up the ladder of country music. His current album Burning Gasoline even has a few top tracks on iTunes.

Jordan has now gotten the opportunity to be apart of a music tour starting in the fall. He will be traveling along the South to different college campuses on the Southern Throwdown College Concert Series. I cannot be more proud of him. This is a pretty big deal to be able to be on a tour with other artists. He is putting himself out there and making a name for himself.

If you listen to his YouTube channel here the kid is pretty damn talented. He's an even better song writer too. Jordan is always putting out videos of covers of different artists on his channel. Take a listen!

Some cousin lovin'

Let's Talk About Grammar

I'm just going to throw this out there, I'm terrible at grammar. Never really got the hang of it. I mostly rely on spell check in Word or on my iPhone to help me out with correcting my words. Same with run-on sentences. I am aware that I use a lot of run-on sentences. It's just how I talk though. I at least know the difference between the use of your and you're, there, their, and they're, and too and to. That's more than the rest of the human population anyways. I spell out everything in my text messages. Personally, I think using shortened words just takes actually more effort and time than spelling out what the word is supposed to be.

I do giggle however when I see two people arguing on twitter and once the argument starts to get at a stopping point they try to pick at each others grammar.

All in all, I'm a math type of person. English was never my forte. My ACT scores can attest for that as well. I believe however that your blog reflects how you speak basically. I speak in run-on sentences. It's as simple as that. It's for pure entertainment value and to get a look into my day to day life.

Shenanigans Ensued

As I am sitting in my sexual communication class this morning, I am reflecting on my ever so eventful weekend that occurred. Definitely was one for the books. But like all weekends, I could have done without a  few activities happening.

Friday afternoon/evening was definitely the most eventful. I went to the quad for some Panhellanic pride lovin' to watch Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. This is a great and very entertaining cause that happens on our campus (It may happen on others too, but I'm not really sure). This campaign, which you can learn more about here, help raises awareness and stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence. It comes from the phrase "you don't know someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes." These fraternity men had to wear women's high heels (more like a 2 inch heel at best) and had to walk a mile around the quad. It's quite the entertaining event to see men struggling to walk in these heels. Some even run! They're crazy if you ask me to be running,  but I digress. It was fun to see an entire Greek community to come together and be apart of this great cause.

Me and my grandbaby :)
Work it boys!
Friday night roles around, aha, and it was a typical college night. We were celebrating two of my sorority sister's birthdays so we all went out to the bars that night. It was the first time for the little one! Needless to say, I don't quite recall the last hour at the bar. What I found out yesterday is that I was going around telling these guys how cool my last name is and that I'm a Rage-r. I mean, typical behavior of me but I just find it hilarious. What is the real kicker here is that I fell, pretty hard. I don't know where I did or how for that matter. I just have a huge bruise on my thigh and a skid mark on my hand to prove that it actually happen. Way to go, me.

Yes, this felt as weird as it looks
Saturday we had our sisterhood retreat! I love these things. It's a great way to bond with my sisters and participate in the fun activities that are planned for us. We did minute to win it games because it was simply GORGEOUS outside. So it was fun! I may or may not have been hungover for the majority of the day but I enjoyed it a lot. We also got to know each other on a deeper level and find out more about our personal background. My favorite part was probably when we each had a piece of paper and had to write down three adjectives that we would describe ourselves with and then the rest of group wrote a characteristic or two about us. It's what I like to call a "warm fuzzy." It's nice to see that you are appreciated and see how other people view you. I was told that I was very approachable and personable and I pride myself on that now. I never though of myself as being approachable but I have been told that a lot lately. I just like to talk to people :)

Saturday night after we had our Pledge Pin Return ceremony for our new members that we were initiating the next day, after FINALLY indulging in some grease filled burgers, Kate and I were planning to have a nice quiet night in. And we were pretty set on this too, until we heard the fraternity next to our apartment having fun and blasting country music. Wah, take me with you. Funny story, two of my sorority sisters were attending said event and tried to find some dates for us.

This event was a barndance, by the way. It is probably definitely one of the most fun events you attend while in college. Basically it's partying in a barn, can't go wrong with that. Actually quite a few things can go wrong, but that is neither here nor there. We get a call from Bri saying "you have five minutes to get dressed and catch this bus." Ummm... what? So we both throw on the first thing we think of. Ironically, we both put on our Wagon Wheel tanks. Total Roommate Move? We get to the fraternity and this is the conversation that goes down

Kate: So... who are our dates?
Bri: Ours!

WHAT? So we're crashing a barndance... this is great. We just had to blend in with our surroundings and act like we were supposed to be there. Everyone is already pretty intoxicated and we are stone cold sober so we might have stuck out like a sore thumb but not enough for anyone to even pay attention to. The night was a total success, though! We got to go to our favorite barn, listen to country music (okay, we basically requested every song that played but whatevs), go on a hay ride... which was terrible, and we may or may not have become the center of attention by line-dancing. It happens. Well, it's a typical us move so it was no big deal.

Roomies!

Loretta, the chex mix lady!
Sunday was absolutely beautiful! I probably could have done without this day. I had to work on a group project when I wanted to be outside and play. Thankfully, the actual group work only took an hour. But then everyone was being productive and busy and I'm just sitting here like an awkward penguin and needed to kill time before our initiation ceremony. Not cool!

I ended up sitting inside and watching baseball up until we had to be at the sorority house so it was fine. After we initiated our new 15.5s, yay babies!!, I finally got to get my new car. Let me tell you, after not having a car for a week all I pretty much want to do is drive around with my windows down. It was a rough life. Later on that night, Kate and I watched the ACMs and pined over Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney and Carrie Underwood. Actually, maybe that was just me but whatever.

Luke Bryan is still the most beautiful man ever even after seeing him cry after winning Entertainer of the Year. He so deserves it!

Hope you all had a great weekend! Happy Monday!

Five for Friday: Birthday!

Since it is my birthday month and it's a pretty big one I am going to talk about the top 5 things that I have asked for my birthday! I did really good with asking for a small list of things, I was pretty proud of myself since I pretty much want everything by Lilly, Vera, Marley Lilly, Ralph Lauren, and Hunters. Sorry I'm a princess :)

I used Pinterest to compile them all into one place. It is a beautiful, beautiful thing.

3. Pearl Bracelet with Monogram charm (How beautiful and darling is this?!)

  4. SPERRYS!!

5. Pretty much anything from Dogeared jewelry. I won't be picky. (My exact words were "All of these necklaces are beautiful!)

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this remix, but it is growing on me. Well played, FGL

Birthday Month!

So since the month of April is notorious for being hell for everyone in college, there is always the light at the end of the tunnel that helps me get through it. MY BIRTHDAY!!

My 14th birthday cake. I know, how precious.
That's right ladies and germs, I turn 21 this year on the lovely day of April 20th!

I can't tell you how excited I am to finally have another exciting birthday. I mean lets be honest, in Champaign the only ones that are worth celebrating are your 19th birthday because you can get into the bars and your 21st because you can legally purchase alcohol; well and it's your 21st, that's pretty much self explanatory.

My 19th birthday with my sisters!
I have the greatest friends ever
This year, I get to celebrate my birthday not only at my sororities formal (hopefully, fingers crossed!) but also with my best friend visiting me as well! I can already feel that this is going to be a great birthday with many shenanigans that will occur. Would you expect anything else of a 21st?

Weekend Shenanigans: Easter Weekend in Champaign

So, I was stuck in Champaign allllll weekend due to being put on the schedule for work. First off, why a restaurant is open on Easter is beyond me so I didn't think to have to request it off. Second, I'm kinda still new so I don't really have the seniority to be doing that quite yet.

Saturday I had to work in the morning so it wasn't all that big of a deal. But, surprise I got off early! Woo! I was planning on going shopping to the outlet mall just because I'm along and don't know what to do with myself. Sure enough as I was getting on the highway AND after a full tank of gas my car breaks down on the ramp :(. I heard a pop when I stepped on the gas pedal and it wasn't moving so I didn't know what to do and called my mother hysterical like any other normal person does. After she suggested that I check things out (all on my own for that matter) we come to the conclusion that it has to be towed. Now let me remind you, it is Easter Weekend and a Saturday so not many auto body shops are going to be open to begin with so I was pretty much out of luck for the weekend.

The tow truck comes and asks me where I want to go, "Ummm any auto repair place that is extremely close would be fantastic." The man takes me to a Tire Plus that pretty much is only useful for tires and oil changes. So now I'm not happy because I had to pay for a tow, $50 so it wasn't that bad, to a place that probably can't even fix my car. They play around with the thing and check it out, blah blah blah. Once they make suggestions of what could possibly be the problem and try to take it out of the bay, the damn thing can't go in reverse. It can move forward though, just ain't moving backwards.

"So you can take the car if you want, but it just can't go in reverse" Ok, this is sketchy and probably not safe.

They recommend that I take it to a transmission place that of course isn't open on the weekend. I can't even move 100 feet without not being able to move forward anymore. As in, my foot is on the gas pedal and can hear the engine roaring but the car isn't moving one bit. Call the same tow guy, very nice and doesn't charge me to tow it to the transmission place so that was nice of him.

So now, it's Monday and my car is not fixable. Not unless I want to pay $3,000 to pay for a new transmission, I would much rather buy a new car that won't break down again. R.I.P. Srat Wagon :( (Yes, I named my minivan)

Only plus side of this weekend, I made $157! Hellloooooo, big money! AND my roommate and I had an Easter dinner at a 24 hour diner and surprised me with an Easter basket!

Ain't she the cutest?!

Side note: I realize that this post is probably extremely lengthy and could have been summed up in less than 200 words. My apologies.
