Nashville Rock n' Roll Half Marathon

I'm finally able to recap my trip to Nashville this past weekend.
More importantly, I'm able to walk without a limp and sit down without busting into tears.

If none have you done a race in Nashville - I highly recommend you do it. Especially the Rock n' Roll series!
You don't have to be a fool like I am and run the half. There's also a 5k and 10k portion of it. Or if you want to be real crazy and run the full marathon - more power to you.

I drove in Thursday night after work and didn't get in until 1 in the morning. All of my group that I was meeting there was out on the town so I just met them all at the hotel. You know what sucks even more about driving 7 hours? Driving 7 hours in the mountains and in the dark. Not fun.
Friday was packet pick up day and the expo was packed! It was set up just like Ikea - a big maze and will take you hours to get out and see daylight again.
I was fully prepared to spend all sorts of money on Nashville swag. Ironic thing is that the only item of clothing I got that has the Nashville Rock n' Roll logo on it is the race shirt I got for free. But I did get an awesome shirt that says "Will Run For Beer" so I'm pretty content with that.
After the expo we went on a tram tour of downtown that told us all about the sights of Nashville which was pretty cool. We had the option to hop off and hop back on different stops but since we had such a big group we didn't want to risk not getting all of us onto the next tram.

What I really liked about the tour is that it gave me a better understanding of the route for the race the next day since it was pretty much the same.
Saturday we had to be up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at 4:45 IN THE MORNING for 7AM start time. It was projected for the weather to rain the entire race but luckily the ran passed right by us and it was nothing but cool weather and overcast. Perfect running weather!
If it was sunny and 80 degrees I don't think I would've finished. Probably would have crawled the entire time. Or flag down the golf cart medic to give me a ride to the finish line.
I stuck with my mom the entire time which I'm super happy I did because she really pushed me to run when I didn't want to. I didn't really train for it by any means so I wasn't expecting a spectacular time. Mostly because there we're so many hills!
And I'm not talking about little baby hills. Or going uphill the entire time and then go downhill the second half of the race. These we're practically mountains and they we're constant.
But I ended up finishing! Which is the most important thing. And I wasn't too far off of my time from my first half marathon last year. My final time was 3:09 - which considering last year was 3:03 and it was all hills, I can't really complain about that!
Despite all of the hills and my terrible race time, I actually really enjoyed this race. The scenery was awesome running through downtown Nashville and there we're people watching on the sides all throughout the course. They also had bands playing almost at every mile marker which also made the race a lot of fun too. With my mom running next to me and the bands playing, I only ran with one ear bud in the entire time.
Not gonna lie, probably am going to register for this race again. Only because it's $50 for pre-registration. Maybe this time I'll train better for it. Probably not.

#Hashtaghumpday @ Genuinely Lauren

Lets call these rules the 'skinny' because rules sounds way too formal and this is anything but:
  - Talk about whatever you like! Just as long as you ad a #hashtag at the end of it because it's #fun
  - Link your post up here or with my gal pal Laura so we can read all about your life and thoughts #takenoprisoners
  - Comment on at least one other post and make friends because that's the point of linkup right? #letsbefriends
  - Share it on social media and add #hashtaghumpday #allofthesocialmedia
  - Have fun! #hashtageverything

Sorry I'm just now showing my face around this blogosphere. I don't feel exactly human after my half marathon on Saturday. #isthisreallife #everythinghurts

However, the race was super fun and I plan on recapping it all tomorrow. That is if I feel any more alive tomorrow #nopromises

STARBUCKS FRAPPUCINO HAPPY HOUR COMES BACK ON MAY 1ST!! #somuchexcitement #starbuckseverydayfrom4to6 #loudnoises

I'm still not reacting well to Derek Shepard dying on last weeks Grey's Anatomy episode #allofthefeels #sorryforthespoileralert #alwaysourmcdreamy

So anyone been to Playa del Carmen or Cancun? I'm going in a few weeks and all I keep reading are about how locals aren't very friendly to the tourists and now I fear for my life #neverbeenoutofthecountry #canibringmedogtoprotectme

I'm one episode away from the Sons of Anarcyh season 7 finale and I don't know how I'm going to react. I'll probably watch the entire series again to completely honest so I can cry all over again #allofthefeels #theresalotofeelsthisweek

Friday Favorites

Hey y'all!

By the time you read this, I'll be picking up my race gear to run the Rock n' Roll half marathon in Nashville!

Yes, I'm excited and nervous. No, I'm not ready in the slightest.

I still rounded up my favorites for you this week!

All I need to complete this outfit is an insanely large bubble necklace then I could wear this outfit straight out of my closet.

[via]
This daybed is so pretty and simple! I'm recently obsessed with putting a couch type or chair in the bedroom. Not that I have a big enough bedroom to do exactly that. But I think it would definitely make any room.

[via]
I don't know why this is funny but I cannot stop laughing.

[via]
PRETTY, PRETTY COFFEE MUG!

Even after my Pinterest fail of a meal on Tuesday, I'm determined to find my next success and I think this could be the next one! I mean, it's a taco casserole! You can't go wrong with that!

Have a great weekend everyone! I'll be up bright eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow morning running, or trying to run, 13.1 miles!

My drive home tomorrow after the race shall be interesting.

Collins' Take Over

Hi guise!
My name is Collins and Mom is letting me take over today since she's leaving me for 2 days to go run a race. I mean she can run with me right here! I really like running. I just did 5 laps around the living room.

Dad thinks I'm named after Landon Collins who plays for Alabama. While Mom thinks I'm named after the daughter from The Blind Side. They can't seem to agree on the "inspiration." But I'm just the cutest pup in the world!
I've officially been living with Mom and Dad for a month now and thought it was about time I introduce myself.

I'm a 6 month old pit bull bundle of love. I melt all of the ladies pups with my sultry eyes.
My favorite things are tennis balls, my stuffed duck (I'm on my third one - his name is Ducky the Third), chewing on shoes, and the occasional ice cube that Mom tosses my way when she's filling her water.

Snuggling is another one of my favorites. Dad says I'm a natural lap dog. I can't help it if their laps fit my but perfectly! Dad secretly loves it when we spoon for bedtime.
I'm not so good with other dogs just yet. I only have one friend. He's younger than me and is one of Mom and Dad's friends'. There's a lot of dogs where we live. It's only a matter of time before they all realize how awesome I am and then they'll all want to be my friend.

I do really good in car rides too. Mom takes me to her weekly Starbucks runs and I even get a treat too :)

I don't really like taking pictures, just like Dad. But all Mom has to tell me is how cute I am and I'm smizing for days.
Even though Mom and Dad leave me at home all day to be the man of the house, I can't help but get excited when they come home! They've figured out my weakness though. A good 20 minute belly scratch is the only thing that will calm down my excitedness.

Hope you guise have liked getting to know me! Maybe I'll talk Mom into letting me taking over this little space of hers again

#HashtagHumpDay | Vol.21

It's #HashtagHumpDay folks! The greatest day of the week! Because we are half way through the week which means we are that much closer to Friday.

Thanks for joining me and my best gal pal Laura. While you're here, hop on over and show her some love! Did you see the deliciousness she cooked up yesterday?? Like, get in my belly right this instant.

Okay, serious talk. Who enjoyed the ACMs on Sunday?? It made my little 90s country soul very happy #givemeallofthe90scountrylove

On that note, was I the only one who didn't know that Nick Jonas sang Chains and Jealous?? #iliveunderarock #youllalwaysbethejonasbrotherstome

Tomorrow I hit the road for my half marathon! I can already predict that I will not be a happy camper come Sunday when I have to be at work #somanyows #horizontalrunning

Real talk, any dog owners know how to get their dog to stop eating their own poop. Collins' is getting pretty sneaky about venturing off and pooping in the other room and then eat to make it look like he didn't do anything wrong #ihatepottytraining #givecollinsalloftheGreenies

I just realized that I've done a lot of real talks for this weeks post #notevensorry

I had the biggest Pinterst fail of a meal last night. This was the recipe I used. I don't know what went wrong but it did not taste like I thought it would. This is a time when I wished I lived less than 30 minutes away from the nearest Chipotle #takeouttotherescue #butireallywantChipotle

Weekend Wrapup: Birthday Edition

Hey guys! I told you I would be back with my birthday weekend update!

Mostly it's going to be a photo dump. Now that I look at it I'm pretty surprised at myself that I took so many pictures. I mean, it was my birthday weekend!
Friday, we went to my favorite country bar for a little line dancing. Obvi. I had plans to go to another beachside bar but girlfriend had to work the next day!

Am I the only person who goes home at midnight on the night to celebrate their birthday? Probably.
Blake even bought me a birthday cake! We had some friends over for some grilling and I stuffed my face with this chocolatey goodness.
Oh, hey front iPhone camera quality.
I must say, a year ago when I moved down here I did not think I would have anyone to celebrate my birthday with. I'm so happy that I've made friends with these lovely people during our stay here!
The large was definitely needed for work the next day. I even looked like I rolled out of bed when I got to work which I most definitely did do just that. #noshame #noonecanseemethroughthephone

Saturday we definitely needed to relax in and I was very obliged to do just that.
I've been eyeing this mug at Dunkin for probably a month. Not that it was expensive or anything. Only $5.99 and I just had to splurge on myself and buy this pretty colored mug. I'm still holding out for the state themed mugs from both Dunkin and Starbucks.

Sunday was time for the laundry, cleaning up after our festivities, and going to the pet store because some little pitbull decided to chew through his harness Saturday while both Blake and I we're at work.

He also thought it was okay to pick out a toy because that's what he got on Wednesday after getting his nails cut. While I was looking at the harnesses he snuck off to the nearby aisle and scooped up this lion.

I looked down and saw it was in his mouth so obviously we had to get it.
COLLINS' SELFIE!
Snuggling with his new Lion.

We also watched the ACMs on Sunday night and I was pretty pleased with the whole show. Only thing I was confused about was why in the world Nick Jonas was there and why Dan + Shay didn't sing any of their own songs. Like, I get collaborating like what Christina Aguilera did with Rascal Flatts. But seriously, sing one of your own songs too please.
We did some serious cuddling during the ACMs

Monday was the big day. I went to breakfast with one of my coworkers and had enough time to get my free birthday rewards Starbucks.

I was a very happy birthday girl.
Blake and I went out to dinner to hibachi place in town and it was so good! We haven't had hibachi since before Blake left for his tech school training so I was very excited about it.

I even got the prettiest margarita I've every seen.
Meanwhile while taking this picture, Blake continues to say "can you not take a picture of your drink? Just once."

I mean, you saw this thing! Picture worthy indeed, sir!

Hope you all will stop on by for #HashtagHumpDay tomorrow with me and my best gal pal, Laura!
