Baby Shower Basket

As I pointed out yesterday, we had a baby shower brunch for one of my girlfriends down here for her baby boy and I had to show you all what I put together!

Sure, it's not like a DIY type of thing. Nor are these specifics that you HAVE to give for a baby shower present.

But I thought the presentation was pretty spot on :) #patontheback
Key essentials in any baby shower gift, you know besides diapers and wipes, fun onesies!
I wanted to get a few things off her registry that wouldn't break my wallet even more so than the total of this gift already did. So I got her her crib sheets and soothing blankets.

Which I was told I did a pretty good job of getting those because she said she was about to cave and go buy the sheets herself so she can start to put her nursery together.
I wanted to do something personalized for her and I was between a wine glass and coffee mug. Since she's an avid coffee drinker like myself more so than wine, I felt the coffee mug was the safer bet.

Mostly I couldn't remember if she liked wine or not either, so coffee it was.

Not pictured, the bow I tied around the basket that I put on after I took these pictures and hustled out the door to brunch.

Overall, I'm super pleased with how her gift together!

I could've gone typical and put it all in a bag that she'll never use again. But I wanted to be different and give her something that I know she could actually use in her house or the nursery.

Her exact words we're "You would do something that looks like it came off Pinterest!"

I mean :)

Weekend Wrapup | Brunching + Dog Parking

Hello, friends!

I had quite the exciting weekend; second weekend in a row that I did not sit on my couch for the whole entire weekend.

I'm a fan.

I started off the weekend with a Friday workout. Mostly because I knew how much I was going to eat the next two days #notevensorry
Followed along my some puppy snuggles.

Don't let this face fool you. He's a real thorn in my side most nights because all he wants to do is play where I just want to sit down and not do anything for a few minutes.

He's lucky he's so cute.
Saturday, I had to work and felt like I deserved a Dunkin run in the morning.

I think what I learned from my long 20 day fast from Dunkin was that I'm allowed to have a weekly treat. So I've dubbed Saturdays as my Dunkin run day only because I know that my work day sucks even more on Saturday than any other day of the week.

After work I ran over to Target to do a little shopping for myself and for the baby shower brunch I was hosting the next day. Mostly it was for the baby shower but I couldn't help but take a peak for myself!
I have really been wanting a maxi and jean vest combo so bad since I got home from Mexico so I wanted to take a little peak to see if they had what I was looking for. Their jean vest we're hiding so and I found them after about the 5th time walking through the women's/teen's section.

I really hate shopping by myself mostly because I need opinions from someone and to tell me if it looks stupid or not. These we're the options I sent out to my sisters and we all came to the consensus that option 3 was the best! I really loved the first striped dress but they only had it in a large and it just dragged all over the floor.
Sunday we had a brunch baby shower for one of my friends down here for her first baby. We ended up going to a really popular breakfast place that sits right on the beach with 6 of us girls.

I really wanted to throw her a really nice joint party with all of the guys too but I know I couldn't throw something together in a week up to the scale that I wanted to. So I thought a brunch was a good alternative!
The food was absolutely amazing. I had a breakfast quesadilla and we split a crab and shrimp queso dip with the table. And you can't beat the bottomless mimosas and breakfast basket!
Of course we had to do gifts for her little shower; shes having an actual baby shower at home in a few weeks but we at least wanted to get her a few things.

She got some of the cutest onesies for her baby boy. And look at that tuxedo bib! She also got some converse socks that look like shoes and we're the cutest things I've seen.
I got her some crib sheets and blankets off of her registry and a few onesies. I couldn't pass up on the 'free hugs' onesie!

Baby clothes are definitely a weakness of mine. I had to hold back from buying everything in the store. Then again, it is Target.
After the baby shower I took Collins to the dog park to run around and basically I wanted to wear him out.

I took a trip to Dunkin on the way and I'm not even sorry. It's a small so it was okay!
This is typical of Collins. He either sits in that giant hole in the middle of the dog park or he's laying/rolling around in the mud. Majority of the time he does both.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Let the week leading up to the greatest holiday of the year begin!

Work For It | Three Week Update

We're back for our fitness updates with the my new goals!

Again, only a slight bit of a change between week 1 and week 3; just like week 2

But a slight bit of a change is better than no change!
I'm actually super surprised with my progress this past week considering how poorly I ate and only went to the gym 3 days out of my scheduled 6.

Starting weight: 157lbs

Current weight: 154.8lbs

I'm now down 2.2lbs! Only about 17.8lbs to go to the magical 130 that I haven't been at since high school.

I'm super excited about changing up my routine for the next few weeks. I'm already feeling myself getting a little stronger. My baby arms are getting stronger and I can actually do 20 push ups without going into the girl pushup form.

I'll leave you all on a funny note. I had to do 20 minutes of HIIT as my cardio today and I was supposed to start with a 2 minute jog, sprint for 30 seconds, then walk at a moderate pace for 2 minutes, and back to sprint.

Silly me thought it was 2 minute job, 30 second sprint; and repeat. For the entire 20 minutes.

And of course I didn't realize it until I finished it and looked at the rest of the work out plan.

Okay, maybe it wasn't as funny as I thought it was. But I got a good laugh :)

Weekend Wrapup

Hello friends!

I actually had an eventful weekend rather than my normal scheduled programing of sitting on my couch and watching Netflix. Not that I don't enjoy doing that. Actually I've been saying how I need a weekend - or a day for that matter - of not doing anything.

A girl can dream, right??

Friday we had a little party with our friends. Self explanatory, yes?
It's a rarity when we take a good picture on the very first try. Neither of us are great first picture takers.

Success my friends!
I've been lucky with the friends I've made here :)

I also have a confession to make - I've broken my Dunkin freeze.

Saturday morning it was definitely needed. I lasted a whole 20 days without any Dunkin or Starbucks runs. I even got Dunkin twice that day and I'm not even sorry.
After work I had little motivation to do the things I wanted to do. So I took Collins to the dog park instead.

While we we're there and Collins was playing with the other dogs like he normally does; one of the owners said to me "I've seen that dog before. Is he the one that's always laying in the mud??"

Yup. That's him.
Sunday, we had a lot of Collins play time.

We started the day off with the dog park before Blake went to work.
Look at that face. He did not want him to leave.

Later, Collins and I had a play date with our friends and their dog out in Pensacola at the dog beach. He's such a lucky dog - two trips to the dog beach in the same week!
We ended up finding another dog park out that way so that they could actually be off their leashes. It had it's own man-made beach off the bay and Collins was digging it!

He even got a little more comfortable with his swimming and swam out a little further all by himself! It helped that he was chasing other dogs that were chasing a tennis ball.
I also ordered this shirt for our Fourth of July festivities :) I've been holding off for a few days just to see if I really wanted it. But look at it! It's perfect for every day of the year - not just the Fourth of July!

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

Friday Favorites

Hello, friend!

Thank goodness for the weekend! Not that it really matters for my schedule. But that means I'm another day closer to my next day off!

I haven't done a Friday Favorites in a very long time. I don't even remember the last I did one #badblogger

But here we go!

[via]
Doesn't this shirt just scream "pair me with some cowboy boots and swing me around the dance floor." I mean, that's what everyone looks for in an outfit right??
[via]
I am loving all of the 4th of July decor coming out! If I could, I would decorate my house in 4th of July decor 365 days a year.

[via]
Chalkboard coffee bar?? Count me in!

[via]
"Serving size" is like a foreign language to me.

Speaking of recommended serving size. How mouth watering does this look??

Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Quietwater Beach

I think I'm starting to see a trend here.

Wednesdays are turning into "Collins' Days" aka we make plans based on if we can bring Collins or not.

I just really like hanging out with my dog and my little family on my day off.

And this Wednesday was definitely a very fun day. Even Blake said so which is always a good thing coming from his mouth :)
We got beautiful clear skies, 0% precipitation and 50% humidity, type of day down here in the panhandle which called for a dog beach kind of day.

In typical Mullikin family fashion - well really my family is known for lateness. So I guess I passed on that unfortunate trait. We got our day started late because I was in desperate need of sleeping in. And by sleeping in I mean sleeping until 8.

We got out to the dog beach around noon and got pretty lucky with there only being a constant flow of 2 other dogs there during our stay. I know what you're thinking: "Lauren, you're a genius for going to the dog beach during the week and bypassing all of the tourists."

I KNOW! Somehow Blake doesn't buy it. I'm still a genius - that's neither here nor there.
We've learned from this trip to the dog beach that we are in desperate need of an umbrella.

And not for my own personal use to hide my sensitive, ghostly skin. For my spoiled Collins who hates anything having to do with the heat.

And he's supposed to be a Florida dog!

We have a canopy and brought it with but it would little difficult and a pain to set it up with just two people and having to control an excited puppy.

So Collins' solution was to dig a hole behind my chair to get some shade. At least he's inventive and is really good at digging holes!
Our trip to the beach went much better than last times. Last time we went to the beach, he couldn't stand the water and was scared for it to touch his paws.

A video posted by Lauren Rager Mullikin (@ellemullikin) on

Now he can't get it enough of it!
Sometimes the waves freak him out a little.

Those waves today we're pretty strong so I'll give him that.
I'm kind of thinking of framing one of these three pictures for my house. I don't know where I would put them yet but I'm slightly obsessed with them so I'll find a place.

We only stayed at the beach for two hours because the heat was wearing Collins out. We we're getting tired too but it was Collins that made the decision.

We took a drive down from the beach to the boardwalk in Pensacola and walked down to check out some of the bars and shops. Blake was down there for Memorial Day weekend and raved about this bar that served alcoholic icees so we obviously had to make our way over.

What I really dug about this place is that you can get your drinks to go and walk along the boardwalk. I'm all about those to go drinks :)
Collins clearly approved.

Don't worry. He only drank water.

He's responsible like that.
We even acted like tourists for a minute and took a family picture in front of the big seashell.

I mean come on, you can't NOT take a picture when there's a giant seashell!!

The rest of our day was spent with dinner, frozen yogurt, and beers - all at different places mind you - with some friends. Mostly we hoped to all of these places because we didn't want the day to end.

Anyone have one of those days where you just don't want to go home because that means you're day of fun has ended??

Today was awesome.
