I'm Thankful

 [via]

We've had a great year! A memorable year for sure - and I am thankful for every last bit of it.

We added these three goons to our family and I can't imagine life without them. They continue to test my limits everyday but make up for it every night with lots of snuggles and kisses. Life before dogs? There is no such thing anymore

This guy right here. We've grown so much this past year and I can't wait to see what the next year is going to bring us!

I got to spend a lot of time with my family this past year: vacations to Playa del Carmen, crashing a vacation in Panama City, and having both my baby sister and dad come visit on my home turf. Especially since I had no idea of knowing if I was going to see any of my family this year - I'm so happy I got to make all of the trips and visits.

I'm so thankful and blessed to live where we do. Not only that, I'm thankful of having a job that lets me get to visit all of our beautiful beaches down here in the Florida Panhandle

I'm so beyond thankful for the friends I've made down here. They have definitely made our location into a home.

And I'm thankful for all of you! Thanks for coming to this space and reading all about my weekend antics and mostly about my dogs. Y'all are the real MVPs. So glad to have all of my bloggy friend that I do, as well!

Hope you all have a super fantastic Thanksgiving! Eat lots of food and love on your friend and family. Especially your dogs.

#HashtagHumpday | HAPPY LINKAVERSARY!!

Hey girl hey!

Let's skip the whole of how much I love being off in the middle of the week and get right into the link-up, shall we??

It's #HashtagHumpDay and I'm joined by my fave gal pal and blogger in crime Laura - give her some love why don't you!

#Hashtaghumpday @ Genuinely Lauren

Lets call these rules the 'skinny' because rules sounds way too formal and this is anything but:
  - Talk about whatever you like! Just as long as you ad a #hashtag at the end of it because it's #fun
  - Link your post up here or with my gal pal Laura so we can read all about your life and thoughts #takenoprisoners
  - Comment on at least one other post and make friends because that's the point of linkup right? #letsbefriends
  - Share it on social media and add #hashtaghumpday #allofthesocialmedia
  - Have fun! #hashtageverything

Yes, you read that right. It has been one whole year since we started this biz-natch! #humpdaycelebration #ceeeelebrategoodtimescomeon  #getyourpartypanton #linkaversaryisathing

I went back and read my first post for #HashtagHumpday and apparently I had a lot to say. #butwherearethegifs #ijusthavealotoffeelingsandwords

Back to today's world, and more important issues, I've been having a real affair with Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie every single night. It's a problem. And frankly expensive. Not that I'm complaining. But I'll just blame Blake because he keeps bribing me with a pint to run to the gas station for him that is down the road from our house. Smart, but evil man #benandjerryaremyotherhusbands #butgivemealloftheicecream

Anyone else a loser like myself that has to work tomorrow on Thanksgiving? No one? I didn't think so. I'm really, really, really, REALLY hoping and banking on that I'll get out early and be able to make our friendsgiving while the food is still warm. But I am sending the taco dip so no one goes hungry in my absence #itsallabouttheappetizers #thisyearimmakingdouble

This is me trying to walk all three of my dogs at the same time. Instead of going to the dog park everyday, since you know it gets so dark now, we do walks and it's a little difficult at the moment #practicemakesgooddogs #wellbeprowalkersoon #LOOKATTHEPUPPIES

Speaking of my dogs, Gordon is currently snuggling with my leg hardcore right now #snugglesohard #puppysnugglesarethebestsnuggles

And now Blake just ruined it walking in the door from work - now I'm ignored #theylikedadbetter #imchoppedliver

Hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving! Throw your diets out the window and eat your heart out. I know I will #allabouttheturkey #butyoucankeepyourpie

Weekend Wrapup | Our Worst Date to Date

Ok, maybe that is a little exaggerated.

But, this was definitely one of our worse dates that we've had in the 2 years we've been dating/married.

And it was 100% my fault and my idea.

Before we get into this, I'm going to show something completely unrelated - puppy snuggles. Puppy snuggles are always related yes?
Let's start off with when I got off of work. I work on Saturdays and it sucks incredibly. It sucks even more when I volunteer to be the last one to leave so that I leave room for the glimmer of hope of getting out early on Thanksgiving and that way my hours aren't completely shot.

Sorry, that might have been a little long winded to follow along. Regardless, I got home with about 15 minutes to spare before we went to the Harley dealership's anniversary party. Free alcohol? I'm in.

So we stayed there for an hour or so, planning out all of the items I'm going to break my bank on, and dreaming of this pretty little thing.
It's gold and sparkly and I want it.

I was promised earlier in the week that we would see Mockingjay Pt. 2 this weekend, so we planned it out for Saturday night after the party. We left the dealership around 7pm so we can make it out to Destin, get our tickets and grab some food. Seems like a pretty simple plan, yes? This is where our date went south.

We rode the bike to the dealership since we live a mile down the road. Destin is about 20 miles away so I thought it would be a nice idea to take the bike out and enjoy the weather. Little did we know the drastic temperature drop, gusts of wind, and rain were heading our way.

We got out to Destin and the ride was very calm, a slight chill, but not too much to ruin it. We got our tickets and went to dinner at a place nearby called Miller's Ale House. I've been there before for a birthday dinner so I knew what to expect and enjoyed it. But this time, oh boy.

I don't know if they we're having an off day or what but everything was terrible. Like, there wasn't one thing that was good about either of our meals. My flatbread was soggy. Blake got the special that night - the snow crab that wasn't cooked long enough and the steak was cooked too long. Onion rings we're overcooked. The only decent thing were the mozzarella sticks.

And I watched our server let our beer sit at the bar for at least 10-15 minutes before bringing it to us.

You get my point. I'm hoping it was just a fluke since I've eaten there before and I was very pleased. Worth a second try right??

I'm not one to complain about service or food, but I really wish I said something. At least about the beer. I mean, come on. Letting the beer sit there for 15 minutes and still serve it to the customer. Like, I get that's your fault as a server if you forgot or got too busy (which she wasn't). But I would ask for a new beer from the bartender. Or something, at least.

Needless to say, we saw the Mockingjay. It was exactly like the book and 100% necessary to split it up into 2 movies since there was SO MUCH going on. Kudos Hunger Games.

When we got out of the movie, it had rained, the temperature dropped more, and the wind kicked up. Basically the worst conditions to ride a bike in - in the dark no less!

Even Blake agreed this was probably the worst date we've had. But he actually showed his sweet side that he was happy to spend time with me since we don't really get to do that as often anymore. What a softie :)
We got to saw the big tree all lit up so I guess you can say not all was lost.

Friday Favorites

My Pinterest game is strong lately. Mostly because I'm bored at work, but that is neither here nor there. But I ain't mad about it, heyyyy.

So, update on my little book fiasco I talked about yesterday. I went to library, confident, and told the clerk that I needed to replace it because my 6 month old dog decided to use it as a chew toy. Without blinking an eye, she tells me it's going to be $28. Just like that.

Now let me tell you something, I expected to pay to replace the book. But I did not expect it to be $28. Does Not That Kind of Girl actually cost $28 if you we're to buy it from Barnes and Noble?? Or any other book store for that matter??

I understand I'm essentially buying a new book for them to replace the one my darling dog decided to rip to shreds. But $28? Come one, man.

Anyways. Back to how my Pinterest game is strong and how I can actually give you some favorites.

Can I get a hell yeah??

Fashion

I love the idea of this necklace. It might be a little too much for me. But I love how this outfit is so effortlessly put together.

Coffee

So. Much. Love.

Wreaths

 [via]
There is so much that I love about this wreath. Not only is it perfect for Halloween/all of the fall season. But you can make it work for different seasons as well.

Thanksgiving
[via]
I love everything about this. The simplicity, the banner, and the frame - if you follow the link it's actually a how-to create that frame yourself!

Christmas
[via]
You can't even tell me that you don't think this snowman tree is cute! I can't handle it.

Food
[via]
I'm having a real love affair with soup. Not that I've actually made any yet. But, I'm in the mood to make buckets of it and this would definitely curb my craving.

Moments in Life
Christmas trees are out and about through out Florida and I have to say, there is nothing better than seeing a Christmas tree amongst palm trees. This was taken in Seaside Beach, FL while out touring some vacation properties yesterday.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend! I've got a date planned with the husband to see Mockingjay Part 2 on Saturday!

Not That Kind of Girl

Let me tell y'all, it is so good to get back into reading again.

Not only that, I love recapping on the books I've read. You want to know the last time I reviewed a book? It was Yes Please and it was back in February! Like, seriously? And that was basically the last book I've read period up until a few weeks ago when I finally got my new library card.

Speaking of libraries. They're awesome. Let's just throw that out there. Simply because I have a To Read list that is currently 150 books long and there's probably even more than that I'm not accounting for.

But libraries - I get to borrow the books, both paper and electronically through my Kindle, and decide if they're actually worth buying and adding to my personal library. Not to mention books get really pricey and add up pretty quickly.

Anyways, let's go back to last night. We're doing our potty break rounds with the boys. I have to take each one of them out individually since I don't have a yard. I had already taken out Gordon and Harley and was taking Collins out, I come back and my new book I just got from the library that day Not That Kind of Girl is in pieces all over the floor. And I had hid it from Gordon because he's tried to get a nibble on it earlier that day. Apparently I hadn't hid it well enough because Gordon sniffed it out like the evil little detective mutt he is.

Luckily, I guess, he chewed up the first 100 pages of the book and I had already read that part so he left me the pages of where I have left off. Swell guy right? He's so considerate that Gordon.

But now I have to go back to the library tomorrow and hopefully not break out in tears in the process saying that my 6 month old mutt ruined their book. Should be fun right?

There's this girl, Lena Dunham. She has given us an insider look about events throughout her life and what she has "learned" Ergo the front cover of her book.

I've seen a lot of other bloggers rave of this book and have it on the To Read list for 2015. But, I just didn't know how I would feel about it.

For starters, I didn't know who Lena Dunham was/is. Still don't after reading all about her life. I didn't know if this was going to be funny like Amy Poehler's or very serious. Or I guess there's just there. She writes about her life stories and it's kind of a mixture. Some funny, some serious, and some just there.

Nonfiction books are always a little tricky and have become a new interest of mine. I did enjoy Lena Dunham's book! I was very partial to all of her stories that include lists and when she discussed dieting. Maybe because I'm personally going through it and having to track all of my foods. She even said at the end of the chapter that sometimes you just need to eat all of the foods, and that is okay.

"I thought I would marry my boyfriend and grow old and sick with him. I thought I would keep my friends, and we'd make different, new memories. None of that happened. Better things happened. Then why am I so sad?"

#HashtagHumpDay | Vol.50

Hey girl hey!

Let's skip the whole of how much I love being off in the middle of the week and get right into the link-up, shall we??

It's #HashtagHumpDay and I'm joined by my fave gal pal and blogger in crime Laura - give her some love why don't you!

Lets call these rules the 'skinny' because rules sounds way too formal and this is anything but:

You guys want to know some really exciting news???!! Please contain your excitement. Next week is our one year anniversary hosting this lovely link-up! And Laura and I are hosting a little giveaway for all of you lovely souls that stop by here every week. But it won't be next week on our actual link-aversary - it will be the week after due to the holiday of giving thanks. #linkaversary #yesicreatedthatword

Okay, enough excitement. Real talk: I'm on the struggle bus #proudmember #wheresmyjacket #realtalk

I'm good about going to the gym for maybe like a week, and then I don't go for a few days, then go back for a day, then don't go for another few days, etc. Are we seeing a pattern? I need to get back into the swing of things and in a routine. Basically I need my life together #ineedtogetfit #whoisdrivingthefitbus #someonehelpmegetonit

I'm struggling for finishing books on time. Mostly I think my biggest struggle is getting too many books at the library and that's why I'm not reading them in the 2 week borrow period #thankgoodnessforrenew #butiwanttoreadallofthebooks

And all I want to do is talk about the books I've read. You know those good ol' book reviews I did forever and a minute ago when I actually wrote frequently on this ol' space? I miss those too #ihave4bookreviewsinmydrafts #willieverpostthem? #theworldmayneverknow

My dogs currently have a thing with chewing up cables. No matter how much I try to keep them out of their reach, the sly ones always snatch them back up. But hey, it could be worse. It could be my carpet #ohwait #thatalreadyhappened

These are good struggles to have, right??! #blessedstruggles #isthatevenathing? #immakingitathing

Link up, below! Tell your friends! Get excited about the giveaway in 2 weeks!

Weekend Wrapup | When the Husband is Away

 [via]

Not that I don't love spending time with my husband. But I really love when I get to have the house to myself for the weekend.
Blake went home to Missouri for the weekend to see his brother play in a state playoff football game. So, the Mommy and puppies party began Friday night after work.

Basically our entire weekend involved this:
- drank lots of coffee - but that's nothing new. Dunkin got new holiday cups in!
- a whole lot of Netflix
- hours at the dog park
- books upon books
- ice cream for dinner because my dogs ate my ground turkey WHILE it was cooking
- burning winter candles to mask the wet dog smell in my house
- enjoying a little early Christmas cheer
- Sunday crafting
and not feeling guilty about sitting on the couch and doing nothing. It's pretty fantastic.

Maybe I'll tell my husband to go on weekend trips more often. Just kidding. I'm really excited for him to be home.

My Favorite Week According to my Instagram

You all know how much I love my Instagram.

Heck, I even have a monthly series dedicated to it.

But this week. This week really took the cake on favorites.

O N E
It has reached 60 degrees down in the panhandle of Florida. But it didn't keep me away from my daily iced dark roast hazelnut :)

Side note: now until Sunday, Starbucks is doing buy one, get one free on all of their holiday drinks from 2-5pm. You're welcome.

T W O
Currently reading: Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham. This book has been on my reading least FOREVER and I'm so happy I'm finally getting to reading it after I got my new library card. I'm almost finished with it and things are actually getting interesting so far.

T H R E E
I got extremely lucky with Veterans Day being on my day off and had an extra surprise of Blake being off work too. I actually didn't know that the base shut down for the day so, yeah. But we got to spend the day with each other and take part in some of the specials going on that day. We haven't gotten to spend the entire day together in a while so it was really nice and makes me so proud of him as well. This is one crazy adventure I'm thrilled to be in.

F O U R
This happened. We've had quite the rain storm the past couple of days and the dog park of course got some large mud puddles that warmed my dogs heart. Right when we got to the park, Collins just sat right down in it starring at me. With all of the other owners laughing at me asking if I brought a towel. I didn't.

All 3 of them definitely got baths afterwords and this preciousness happened post-bath. Even though I didn't post it, I couldn't resist his sweet, pathetic face.

F I V E
It reached 78 degrees today while out touring some of our vacation homes today in Santa Rosa Beach and I so wish that I was sitting on the beach instead.

My husband is going up to Missouri this weekend so I'm gonna get a lot of snuggles with my puppies this weekend. I mean, I get snuggles with them all the time, but even more so.
