#HashtagHumpday | Home or HGTV Expert?

Hey girl hey!

It's #HashtagHumpday! You know the drill - drop your link below and visit my favorite gal pal/blogger in crime Laura while you're at it. Y'all are a real peach :)

#Hashtaghumpday @ Genuinely Lauren

Lets call these rules the 'skinny' because rules sounds way too formal and this is anything but:
  - Talk about whatever you like! Just as long as you ad a #hashtag at the end of it because it's #fun
  - Link your post up here or with my gal pal Laura so we can read all about your life and thoughts #takenoprisoners
  - Comment on at least one other post and make friends because that's the point of linkup right? #letsbefriends
  - Share it on social media and add #hashtaghumpday #allofthesocialmedia
  - Have fun! #hashtageverything

I have been super obsessed with watching HGTV lately. Well actually, let me rephrase that. Blake loves to watch HGTV and it was always on the TV either while we're sleeping or on Netflix in the mornings. My latest obsession is Fixer Upper and I want Chip and Jo to remodel a house for me #makemyhouselookpretty #openconceptornothing

And now that I watch so much HGTV and have walked through so many beach houses and condos I feel like I'm pretty much an expert on decorating homes and what looks the best #eventhoughmyownhouseisn'tdecorated #butimstilladecorexpert

But in all honesty it took me like 10 months to actually put up decor in my living room and I've only gotten that far. My kitchen and dining room/dog room is next on the list of things to accomplish #itsaverylonglist #onedayitllgetdone #butnottoday #decoratinggivesmeanxiety

If only the dogs could stop sucking up all of my money, I can finally turn my house into a home #maybenextmonth #ivebeensayingthatsinceApril

I'm making certain though that they next place we live in will absolutely, no exceptions, have a fenced backyard. I mean I love walking outside and taking my dogs potty every 30 minutes. But I have to take them out separately and I'm kind of over that now. #itsapottybreakparty #startingmyhoneydolist

Oh, and no carpet. Because, dogs. #needisaymore #myhouseisdestroyed #goodbyesecuritydeposit

In fact, all my family talked about when they we're here was how much the house reeked of dog. And of course both our vacuum and carpet cleaner broke the week before and the repair shop didn't have them ready in time #mamatried #dogisourpermanentfebreeze #tellmesomethingidontknow

On that note, I'm going to start my cleaning day. Starting with vacuuming every inch of the house with my brand spanking new vacuum courtesy of mom and ending with b-a-t-h-e-s for the pups #dogscantreadright #iknowtheycantspell #dontspoilthesurpriseforthem

Girls Staycation

A little over a week ago, my family came down to visit me in Florida for the first time!

I was super pumped for them to come down and visit, especially after being here for almost 2 years I feel really comfortable with the area and to take them to all of the great places down here. So, I had a great list of fun things to do - at least things to do in the winter season.

They flew in on Friday and we went out to grab lunch and take the scenic route back home through Pensacola. If anyone comes down this direction, there is a strip of highway connecting Pensacola Beach and Navarre and it's 100% worth the $1 toll to drive down. It is so beautiful and straight beach with nothing else around. That night we out to dinner at McGuire's which is also a favorite of the area as well.

Saturday we all signed up for a 5k race in the morning. It was something I wanted to do since it has been a year since we've all done a race together and that's kind of how we all bond too. And it was Star Wars themed - so that's always a fun thing too :)
After the race we had a scheduled tattoo appointment for that afternoon. We talked about getting matching tattoos a month or so ago and then I totally forgot about it until a week before they we're coming into town. So I made an appointment at the tattoo shop Blake got his done at and we decided on this.
I found the idea off of pinterest and thought it was super cute - one of my sisters wanted to do a cute anchor instead so I also took to pinterest and found this lovely design. At the last minute, actually right as the artist was going to fill in the anchor, that we we're going to do the ombre blue. Great decision on our part because I am obsessed!

Saturday night we went out dancing to my favorite country bar to do some line dancing and I ended up doing over 20,000 steps all day! #hollatme
Sunday we did brunch at my favorite spot Anglers. It was even a beautiful day on the water, chilly but beautiful. After brunch we took to the Harborwalk Village to do some walking around and my mom wanted to check out some local shops for souvenirs.

We even spotted this beast of a dog being the most patient thing ever. Basically he was the size of all three of my dogs combined.
I was so happy to have my family come visit down here and to spend the time with them. We've already planned for them to come back down in the summer time so they can actually enjoy the beach season down here and keep me company while Blake is away.

The perfect end for a mini staycation. Now when is the next one??

Paint Your Pet, Round 2!

There's nothing more that I love than wine and painting. Especially when it involves one of my favorite furry friends and some good friends.

The paint studio held another paint your pet class like what I did for Collins and since I have three dogs I knew I at least have to do to the class 2 more times. #multipledogmomprobs

Luckily I didn't have to go at this one myself, even though I totally would have since my BFFIF moved back home, one of my coworkers came with me to paint a portrait of our furchildren. And I was super excited to get to do it again!
This was the photo that I sent for Gordon because I felt like it really captured his likeness and personality - pretty much the derp, goofy boy that he is. I mean look at that smile, am I right??

Something that I didn't realize until we actually went through the process of painting the coat of the dogs - having an all black dog is actually harder than painting Collins portrait and he has 80 million different colors in his coat. And I have one more black dog to paint a portrait for so now I know what to look forward to. Who would've thought???
I'm really thrilled with how it turned out! It almost looks realistic and like the picture. The instructors do a really good job of making your pictures come to life and help get the likeness of the pet.
On another note they have a 3 glass serving limit, so it's definitely a good precursor to the rest of your night!

Two dogs down, one to go!

#HashtagHumpday | I need another vacation

Hey girl hey!

So, my family left from their visit down here on Monday and I feel that I need a vacation from my vacation. While sitting at work yesterday I kept thinking to myself "Why didn't I take off today? I don't want to be here. I want to lay on the couch and watch Netflix all day" Anyone else know what I'm talking about?? I'll recap all about our fun weekend tomorrow! #tooexhaustedtofunction #ineedtosleepforafullday

No joke though, all weekend I consumed a lot of alcohol and even my sister mentioned it during brunch on Sunday. Hey, it's my vacation time too. So what if I want to drink a mimosa with a side of coffee?? #staycationtime #mimosasalldayeveryday

As I woke up this morning I hear of of the dogs chewing on something. Now, I just assume it's one of their toys because it makes the same crunching sound. When I actually get up and look at who it is and what they're chewing on - it's Gordon chewing on computer charger #4 that I just bought Monday. I'm livid and I don't know how to fix his chewing on electric cords problem. I'm desperate for suggestions on how to fix it. I've done everything I can think of. I'm just going to go cry while I drop another $50 on a computer charger #cryingovermybrokebankaccount #illtradeyouadogforacomputercharger #justkidding

Oh, and my best friend down here moved back to her home state last night so I'm really going to be alone out here. But my family has made plans to come back down and visit me in the summer so I can have a little bit of company #allllbyymyselffff

On that note I'm going to leave it at that. Not the normal chipper #HashtagHumpday you all know and love! I'll be back to my normal self next week for our regular scheduled programming #loveyouall #youtherealmvp

#HashtagHumpday | #EXCITEMENT

I apologize for my absence around these here parts but I feel like I'm a chicken with my head cut off there's so much going on here on my end. But in a good way!

You see, my family comes in to visit this weekend and I am so excited! #imsoexcitedandijustcanthideit
And family coming into to town means that I am deep cleaning the crap out of my house making sure it looks in tip top shape. Even though I know once we get this place spic and span the dogs are going to mess it up some how and restore it to it's normal messy glory. #dogsdothedarndestthings #ourmessisanormalthing #mostlybecauseimlazy

I'm really hoping for a warm front coming our way this weekend since right now and the past few days it's been in the 40s which is cold for Florida! It's projected to be in the 60s all weekend and I can handle that #pleasekeeptherainaway #butthatcouldreallychange #floridaweatherisneverreliable

I feel like I'm late to the party with not posting anything about my 2016 goals or a new word for the year - pretty much anything pertaining to a new year, new me. Whenever I get home I'm not motivated to do much of anything. Plus with a current situation that kind of fell into our lap on Monday, plans are pretty much getting thrown out the window at this point #whatareplans #canonlygoupfromhereright

On that note I'm going to get a jump on my mile long to-do list for today. Starting with cleaning my bathroom... #gross #canijusthiresomeone #ipayindogkisses

#HashtagHumpday | The First of 2016!!

Hey girl hey!

It is the first #HashtagHumpday of 2016! Not like it's a big deal or anything - just another day :) but thanks for stopping by and linking up with my partner in crime Laura! Y'all are a real peach :)

I'm sure you all have seen/read about our first very large purchase of 2016? I was telling some of my coworkers about it yesterday and I'm still flabergasted about the whole ordeal. Not that I wanted anything to be wrong with my dog, I'm happy he's perfectly healthy. But for almost $700 I really wanted something to be wrong/worth the amount of that vet bill. Live and learn, right? #justtakeallofmymoney #andmyfirstbornchildtoo

Speaking of dogs, one of my dogs Gordon finds it necessary to beat me to wake me up to take him potty every morning. At 6am on the nose, no less. And almost every morning he jumps on my head - this morning he punched me in the eye. I wish I was joking. #momtimetogetup #andimeannow

Right now I'm just counting down the days until my family comes to visit. They'll be flying in next Friday and I am so excited! I've got tons of plans for what we'll be doing - mostly eating #eatallofthefood

Speaking of food, I'm in need of breakfast and lots of coffee. #givemeallofthecoffee #actuallyilljusttakeanIV

Our First Purchase of 2016

It's already happened.

Not even 4 days into 2016 and we've already broken the bank with a very hefty price tag.

Friendly PSA, if you have a sensitive stomach you should probably just scroll on down to the end.

Saturday morning, my sweet little Collins was having a little diarrhea during our morning potty. Nothing to be too concerned about. Pretty normal. So I go to work and leave him with Blake and go about my day.

Around 11 Blake calls me that he's found more diarrhea down the staircase and Collins curled up in a ball right next to him. I knew right away that I should've gone home from work, but Blake put him in his cage until I came home.

Sure enough I came home to his cage full of diarrhea and vomit and he looked miserable. I let him out and he threw up quite a few times and had more diarrhea as well. I knew things weren't right.

So I called the emergency vet and drove the 20 minutes hoping to only having to pay the minimum emergency vet fee. Seems like any time a trip to the vet is involved lately for any of my dogs has me paying an arm and a leg.

We get to the vet and Collins is jumping off the walls and not acting like he just threw up everything in his stomach for the past 20 minutes. Basically, being his normal crazy self. And there were a lot of people in the waiting room so he was definitely overstimulated and quite excited.

After maybe 30 minutes of waiting and the crowd starts to thin out a little bit, Collins decided to give the waiting room floor a little redecorating and vomited for a solid 10 minutes until they took us into one of the examination rooms. Where he then continued to vomit and start to diarrhea as well. All over my brand new shoes.

I'm pretty sure he was waiting until he had a little more privacy to do that deed. Didn't want to embarrass himself, you know.

While we were in the examination room, Collins looked so pathetic and depressed. He was curled up in a ball underneath the chairs. Not wanting to get up when the vet wanted to feel his stomach. Nothing.

So, the vet takes Collins back to give him some injections. He comes back about 10 minutes like the same dog he's always been. They also did some blood work and an x-ray to make sure he didn't eat something he wasn't supposed to.

Turns out he's a perfectly healthy dog. His blood work came back normal. Nothing on his x-ray.

All for the nice price tag of $671.18 - to tell me that my dog is perfectly fine.

And that ladies and germs is the story of our first large purchase of 2016. I'm thinking of turning into a book! Just kidding.

But in reality I could probably write a bunch of great stories involving the three-ring circus that is my house.

December a la Instagram

Hope you all had a fantastic new year and are busy relaxing and sleeping the day away! I wish I could and I envy all of you but, work.

I'm bring back around the monthly recap link up! If you're new around these parts, you know I love my Instagram and recaps of my months are the favorites of the bunch.

I would love to see all of your month recaps! Grab the link below and hop along and see all of the beautiful moments, especially for fall, captured!

Genuinely Lauren

Lots of coffee, puppy snuggles and beginning to read again - I absolutely love it!

I even created a Christmas gallery wall!
Our weather has been insane and we took a bike ride - in 70 degree December weather.

Target Christmas shirts are the bomb.com

These sweet little faces I could snuggle all day - sometimes they're sweet.
My holiday craft this month was doing glitter ornaments for the dogs, and plastic so they don't break when they get knocked off!

My obsession with trees is unreal. Especially with my own. I found a beach themed tree at one of our condos and I fell in love and want to decorate my future beach themed tree just like this!
I sent out our first Christmas cards!

We celebrated Blake's 22nd birthday.

Puppies, coffee, and more Target holiday shirts = love
We've grown quite the collection of ornaments for our first tree. Some more dog ornaments that I just had to have. Our sports teams. And of course an Air Force ornament for Blake.
My mom sent me another ornament for an early Christmas present - the Chicago marquee!

We celebrated Christmas eve with friends and a Christmas dinner and sangria.

Our first Christmas together, second married.
Day after Christmas we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and take a bike ride - ending with beers and beach chairs

Puppy snuggles. Enough said.

My coworker said she found this mug at Target and I just "had to have it" :) she right.
2015 best nine! Seems pretty accurate don't you think? Except for no dog pictures and I'm actually quite disappointed, no lie.
Planning out my 2016 reading challenge with my newest book haul - basically all of these are the next book in each of their series.

I got a curling wand for Christmas and I had a lot of fun playing with it yesterday for my New Year work doo. Except for it rained all day and our New Years Eve plans kinda turned and we ended up staying at home after getting dinner. But I'm okay with that. Spending the evening with my puppies in pajamas is my kind of night I'll choose any day.

Here's to a great 2016!
